Adam Clammer is launching a new private equity firm, nearly two years after stepping down as head of technology investing at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. KKR .

The San Francisco-based firm will be called True Wind Capital, and already has hired former Thoma Bravo investor Duncan Gills as a principal. Also expected to be involved is Jamie Greene, who spent more than 25 years as a KKR partner before retiring into an “advisory partner” role after 2012. He continues to serve on the boards of such companies as Aricent, SunGard Data Systems and TASC.

True Wind has not yet raised any outside capital.

Clammer declined to comment. While at KKR, his board seats included Avago Technologies, Eastman Kodak Co., Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Medcath Corp. and NXP.
